I was invited to contribute to an upcoming set of Postcards for
the Renmen project, an art charity set up to aid Unicef in Haiti.
With the theme of ‘love’ in mind, my submission entitled “PandaSnot”
came to mind (don’t ask how… lol)

Here’s a progress pic i quickly put together

(click on the image for a larger view)
Stage 1: Doodle (I like to doodle in blue pencil. a habit i guess from my
short stint as a 2D animator)
Stage 2: Ink by hand (I Use my old animation table as a lightbox, and ink a new drawing
over the top of a photocopy/printout of the pencils. Took me about 2 hours to ink)
Stage 3: Scan and colour. (Using photoshop and my trusty mouse
‘cos wacoms are awkward )
Keep an eye out on the renmen project website for details of it’s release!

Doodlin’ on a Wall

A couple of good friends of mine asked if I’d like to pimp
out their new Babyroom. Blank wall? Creative Freedom? Who can say no to that!
Here’s some photos (sorry their crappy iphone quality)
of the wall which i started last week.

The idea is that the doodles lead you around the corner, where the larger
Kristopher Kong painting lies. Kristopher Kong is based off my friends
new child, who, also named Kristopher, is going to grow up cheeky.
I can feel it
This project has a few firsts for me:
-First time painting this size
-First time doodling this size
-First time i didnt make a mess
I’ll be tweeting photos whenver i get a chance to work in it some more.

Wow, 2009. what a year. the beginning of 2009 was a bitch. My appendix had burst
late 2008 (in Disneyland in the states *shakes first* (here’s an old blog post)
*WARNING* these photos are icky. You have been warned.
Probably not the best idea to be eating right now
Photo1 Heres my tummy still with metal staples holding it together.
Photo2 Heres my tummy with the staples taken out. yup.. eww
Photo3 Heres the holes healed, only took 4 months. gosh!
(upside of this? i lost 10 kg’s in 2 weeks. granted i was bedridden for 3 weeks..)
So the first 4 months of ‘09 was me recovering from Surgery.
Then after i kinda recovered from that…
I had eye surgery.

Now onto the good stuff!
2009 was a fantastic year artwork wise. Social Networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter
have been AMAZING at exposing my work to other people, plus the ability to chat
to artists who are inspirational to me totally rocks my socks <3

Whats instore for 2010?
We’ll the big highlight will be my first solo show at thisisnation, in Calgary, Canada
which will be fun, i’m gonna be flying out as well (YAY)
i’m hard at work sketching things for it, i plan to have 16 paintings, sculptures
and sketches it’s gonna be EPIC!
Also on the cards is a trip to SDCC to hang with my Kanpals
(You know who you are. Kanpai!!!)
which will be ACES! Not to mention another possible solo show in the UK,
some more podgypanda apparel gear, stationary, more customs and more love.
See? told you 2010 will be EPIC
