A PodgyPanda Circus – Custom Jibibuts for We Heart Wood Custom show in LA

So this post has been along time coming, the gallery show has already
been open for 2 weeks! Better late then never eh?!
The wonderful noferin last year invited me to customise some of their awesome
jibibuts, how could i say no! (Felt really intimidated with the lineup though,
so many customisers and artists i look up to!)

Character Workshops and Open Day Talk at Freelance Animation school!

Just thought i’d drop a quick note about the Freelance Animation School
Open day and workshops that i’ll be attending.

On Sat 10th April is the Open day, come by and hear me talk about
myself and the silly things i do

The Cartoon workshops will be held from Monday 12th April -
Friday 16th April (i believe you need to book for this)
and a free, shorter workshop on Friday, 9th April (tomorrow!)

Firstly, Thank you to all those who came past my booth!
(even those of you who rolled around my grass. you know who u are)
Christchurch!

This is what my booth had looked like when i got there. It was very barren!

TADA! With a bit of elbow grease (and lots of help from my good friend Jen)
I transformed it into this

I had great foot traffic and lost my voice at different parts of the 3 day weekend
due to talking too much (my bad).

Last but not least, i brought these Geeks of Nature sculptures
down with me to display, which a very talented friend sculpted
for me.

once they’re all sanded and smooth, ill take better photos.

This coming weekend (27th – 28th March) I will be down in Christchurch
at Armageddon. I’ll have a proper booth this time, which will look aces once
it’s put together

Wow, 2009. what a year. the beginning of 2009 was a bitch. My appendix had burst
late 2008 (in Disneyland in the states *shakes first* (here’s an old blog post)
*WARNING* these photos are icky. You have been warned.
Probably not the best idea to be eating right now
Photo1 Heres my tummy still with metal staples holding it together.
Photo2 Heres my tummy with the staples taken out. yup.. eww
Photo3 Heres the holes healed, only took 4 months. gosh!
(upside of this? i lost 10 kg’s in 2 weeks. granted i was bedridden for 3 weeks..)
So the first 4 months of ‘09 was me recovering from Surgery.
Then after i kinda recovered from that…
I had eye surgery.

YAY! go crappy 2009!
Now onto the good stuff!
2009 was a fantastic year artwork wise. Social Networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter
have been AMAZING at exposing my work to other people, plus the ability to chat
to artists who are inspirational to me totally rocks my socks <3

We’ll the big highlight will be my first solo show at thisisnation, in Calgary, Canada
which will be fun, i’m gonna be flying out as well (YAY)
i’m hard at work sketching things for it, i plan to have 16 paintings, sculptures
and sketches it’s gonna be EPIC!
Also on the cards is a trip to SDCC to hang with my Kanpals
(You know who you are. Kanpai!!!)
which will be ACES! Not to mention another possible solo show in the UK,
some more podgypanda apparel gear, stationary, more customs and more love.
See? told you 2010 will be EPIC
can’t wait!!!!!
